# Industry Awareness

In the current project

Within my group I've been applying a lead designer or even a producer role. most of the game's mechanics and visuals have been thought up by me as we discussed things over. i also ended up doing the client contact as well as the planning, standup and keeping everyone updated. i also ended up reviewing other people's products and features as well as giving my insight on how they could/should be doing them.

My vision for the game was an office design tool that's easy to use in the office with a reasonably short interaction time but with multiple uses. It also needed to be workable by a variety office workers, so we used an onscreen control hud to let the player move around as well as the generic keyboard movements. The objectives would be based on the required mood to invoke rather than place X thing, this way you get an insight on the decision making for certain moods as well as having a progression system.

the client were asking for an office designing game possibly in VR which kept track of the users mental wellbeing and supported this. the mental wellbeing and decision making needed to be tracked for the phd of the client. \
My vision suited the needs as it still had some tracking as well as being realistic. The VR was dropped after discussing it with the client, a teacher and of course the group. This was done because VR would be out of our scope as well as it'd be very inconvenient to make that worth using in an office environment.
For example some of our doors are openable, i made sure that our openable doors look distinguishable of the solid doors. This lets the player know what works and what doesn't. This is also commonly used in other games like doom for example.

Another example of the sound effects at first it was this to open a door:

But because it's too squeeky and doesn't fit an office type door i rejected it and suggested to use:

It's not ideal still but it gets the job done for what we could find and would fit an office more than before.
My group was happy with my participation as a leading role and i'll likely be assuming these in the future as well.
